Dentist and Teeth

What does a thread, a door knob and insurmountable amount of force means? Or a pliers and a lot of belt strap? Well for some old folks it means that there would be lots of pain but it’s a remedy for pain. Duh I don’t get it. Well these things are old solutions for an aching tooth. Although barbaric in sense, it really helps the person who has a tooth ache. But you see in the old time there are no dentist its just barbers and general physicians who can do the job. Dentist and teeth have been in existence since 5500 BC. Records from Indus Valley Civilizations shows sign of dentistry during the 5000 BC.

Now what is a dentist? Are they just people who extract aching tooth? Let’s go into the meaning of it for more understanding. A dentist is a person who takes care of tooth disease by filling or removing them. But the thing is filling and removing is not the only thing that the dentist do. During this time there are a lot of procedures that is under the categories of being a dentist. As technology improves so are the needs of the people. If before you only need a thread and a door knob to remove your tooth now there are anesthesias for pain, drills for cleaning, and different materials for filling, mirrors, and lights and so on. The dentist has improved, you can’t be a dentist unless you have studied and get a license. Dentist and teeth are inseparable, for the dentist cannot be a dentist if there is no problem with the teeth and if you have a problem with your teeth, whether it’s aching or it’s not at a right position the dentist is the one who can solve the problem.

You see dentist have improve their craft, not only do they cure the disease in your mouth but they can also make your teeth look beautiful. Right now there are cosmetic dentistry, surgical dentistry and so forth. People have relied on dentist to make sure that their teeth would look pearly white and look nice making dentistry one of the top profession in the world. Where ever you go which ever country you stay there would be a dentist just right at the next corner.

Dentist and teeth have been a part of our lives ever since. A friend of mine once said to me that he would rather see a dentist rather than his wife. I ask why and he said well my wife makes me close my mouth when ever she talks but my dentist always ask me t open my mouth. The thing is that dentist is a profession that is highly needed in our society that’s why it makes me wonder why some parents wouldn’t want their kids to become a dentist but rather they want there kids to become a general doctor. Where in fact dentist gets paid higher rather than a general doctor for their profession is a specific need. Especially in Hollywood, you can’t be an actor or actress if you have bad looking teeth or smelly mouth.
